NERTI stands for Rapid Emotional Clearing of Unconscious Trauma and is a simple, quick and effective method for overcoming phobias such as fear of public speaking, flying, spiders, swimming in the ocean, driving, and heights. Let's see together in more detail this method, which according to its creator Luc Geiger is a miracle.
NERTI method: but who is its creator?
Psychotherapist, master coach, master practitioner in NLP, in sophrology and Ericksonian hypnosis, Luc Geiger was inspired by these techniques as well as by cardiac coherence EFT and positive psychology among others to create his own: The NERTI Method.
Himself a former great shy person bordering on social phobia, he worked on himself and tested many methods and therapies for many years to get free of this paralyzing condition until he tried on himself some of the beginnings of what would become the NERTI method.
From what states does the NERTI method release?
Luc Geiger assumes that a phobia is an emotional hyper-reactivity originating in a distant and buried memory in the unconscious (sometimes collective) of a panic fear of death. An imprint would have crystallized by associating a particular event with death for the most part symbolic (fainting, dissociation, etc...). Since the reptilian brain does not differentiate between "real" death and symbolic death, it remains as if stuck in this space-time and the subject relives this state as soon as he or she is in contact (even visually or simply by evocation) with the triggering element. These subjective reactions are said to be disproportionate because, in fact, for most of them, the danger of imminent death is nil.
Classification of hyper-reactivities in 3 categories
Abnormal reactivities
Agoraphobia, claustrophobia, transport phobia, animal phobia or other phobias (fear of vomiting, getting sick, going down stairs ...)
Abnormal emotional reactions
Fear of abandonment, exacerbated shyness or jealousy, anxieties, hypersensitivity to stress
Abnormal disabilities
Procrastination, self-sabotage
The NERTI method can alleviate any behavior that interferes with a normal and fulfilling social life.
In practice, the 3 key words of NERTI are "speed, autonomy and simplicity".
This method is for everyone from 7-8 years old. On the other hand, for people with a psychiatric history, the NERTI method in autonomy is strongly discouraged. Yes, NERTI can be practiced in the office with a practitioner or at home.
However, depending on the degree of intensity of your phobia(s), being accompanied is highly recommended to avoid any decompensation or emotional submersion. Indeed, NERTI will seek to reconnect us to the physical sensations related to the primary emotion that triggered the phobias when the reptilian brain thought it was dying. In his book La solution NERTI published by T. Souccard, Luc Geiger explains:
"The NERTI method will take you through the situation that is causing the reptilian brain to overreact [...] . But in the moment of revival, when you pass the lock, the reptilian brain realizes that it is not dying. He needs this new experience to realize that there is ultimately no danger of death. It is at this point that he can erase the unnecessary traumatic memory. Indeed, the latter is no longer associated with this danger of imminent death.
According to the author, the important thing is to stay focused onbody sensations and not on emotions so that the session does not become too painful. This can be complicated for some who still remain in control, but this mental letting go must be maintained throughout for the revival to occur fully, all the way through, and without mental parasites. This is the key to the success of this method.
This process is completely natural and usually only requires one session. When the deprogramming is done, the emotional hyper-reactivity stops by itself. Sometimes this release is preceded by a temporary amplification of hyper-reactivity as part of thecleansing process because the emotional memory would have been called upon.
The NERTI method should be known and recognized because it allows one to release oneself from phobias quickly and without treatment. The fact of making the reptilian brain relive the traumatic experience while having a different and positive outcome ("I'm not dead"), would allow, in effect, to deprogram any abnormal hyper-reactivity including phobias.
