Lavandin Super essential oil

Lavandin super is a hybrid between true lavender and spike lavender. Rich in camphor, its essential oil is soothing and relieves the pain caused by a bad cramp.

  • Usage: In 4 drops ofvegetable oilplace 1 drop of essence. Massage the affected muscle up to 4 times a day.
  • Precautions: Dilute lavandin super essence 20% in a vegetable oil before applying to the skin, to avoid irritation.

Contraindications: This essence can be used from age 3 upwards, but only by the skin, with the exception of pregnant women in their first trimester, nursing mothers and people with epilepsy. It also presents a significant allergic risk, with the presence of over 30% linalool. It also contains very small quantities of limonene, geraniol and coumarin, molecules recognized for their allergy risk. Contraindications : Only adults and children over 6 years of age are authorized to use this essence, with the exception of pregnant and breast-feeding women, people suffering from hormone-dependent pathologies (cancer...), hypertension, epilepsy or asthma. As it is hepatotoxic and neurotoxic in high concentrations, doses must be scrupulously respected, and use should be occasional or of short duration. Finally, it has a cortison-like action and can be a source of allergy due to the limonene and linalool it contains.

Gaultheria couchée and Odorant essential oils

Both wintergreen and fragrant wintergreen essential oils come from a shrub in the Gaultheria family, whose main claim to fame is that it contains a high concentration of methyl salicylate, the molecule behind aspirin. Like the commercial molecule, the essential oil has analgesic properties that enable it to reduce the pain associated with cramp-like muscle spasms.

  • Directions for use: Dilute 1 drop of essence in 4 drops of an vegetable oil to massage the affected area. Repeat up to 4 times in 24 hours.
  • Precautions : If you suffer from epilepsy, you must seek the advice of a therapist.

Contraindications: These essential oils are not suitable for children under 6 years of age, and are not authorized for use by pregnant and breast-feeding women.

  • Directions for use: Dilute 1 drop of lemon eucalyptus essential oil in 5 drops of one of the following essential oils vegetable oil. Apply to the cramp, 3 to 4 times a day until improvement.

Noble Laurel essential oil, to calm nerves

Thanks to its eugenol and methyl-eugenol content, noble laurel tends to calm nerves and associated pain.

  • Use: Laurel oil is mainly used in synergy against cramps. However, if you don't have any other essential oils on hand, you can dilute 1 drop in 9 drops of an essential oil. vegetable oil before massaging the painful muscle. You can repeat this action up to 4 times a day.
  • Cautions: due to its irritant and allergenic potential (limonene, linalool, eugenol, geraniol), dilute 20% in a vegetable oil before contact with the skin. In cases of asthma or epilepsy, consult a specialist before starting a course of treatment.

Contraindications: Laurel essential oil is suitable for children over 6 years of age, with the exception of women in their first trimester of pregnancy and nursing mothers. Some effective synergies against cramps

Massage to relax the muscle

For greater effectiveness, combine essences to relax muscles, reduce spasms and ease pain in a single gesture. To do this, mix the following essences in a suitable bottle:

  • 35 drops tarragon
  • 35 drops wintergreen
  • 35 drops lavandin super
  • 6 mL vegetable oil (arnica oily macerate is particularly recommended)

Apply up to 15 drops of the mixture as soon as the cramp starts. Repeat after 30 minutes if necessary, up to 3 times a day. Observe the conditions of use for the essences concerned, as described above.

Pain-relieving massage

Laurel

Your cramp is making you suffer terribly, so massage with the following blend of essential oils:

  • 40 drops noble laurel
  • 40 drops lavandin super
  • 40 drops wintergreen
  • 100 drops vegetable oil (e.g. arnica oily macerate)

Massage as needed with 5 drops of the preparation up to 4 times a day.

For pregnant women

If you're pregnant, you may experience cramps at the end of your pregnancy. In this case, there are essences that can relieve pain, but perhaps less specifically for muscles.

However, they are tolerated by women over 3 months pregnant. Roman chamomile essential oil is one of these. Add it to the following synergy:

  • 4 drops lemon eucalyptus
  • 4 drops of noble laurel
  • 4 drops Roman chamomile
  • 100 drops vegetable oil (prefer arnica oily macerate)

Using 6 drops of this mixture, massage the sore muscle no more than 3 times a day for up to 5 days.
