2 essential oils against transit disorders

Transit disorders, whether lazy or too fast, affect a large number of people and are often linked to the lifestyle of each person: too much stressThis can be due to a lack of physical activity, or an unbalanced diet that is too low in fiber, for example.

Sluggishness is the most common manifestation of these disorders. Although it does not normally cause any complications, it can be very annoying in everyday life, causing bloating and discomfort. This type of intestinal disturbance can be manifested by difficult awakenings, a feeling of stress, headaches and uncomfortable abdominal contractions. Far from being insignificant, this intestinal laziness can easily be improved by drinking enough water, consuming more fiber and practicing sports regularly.

Some essential oils are also very effective in fighting constipation and awakening sluggish transits.

Ginger essential oil

essential oil ginger

This is particularly true of the essential oil of ginger (Zingiber officinale), whose digestive properties are well known, helps to put some order in all this and to find comfort and serenity. Due to its many components, ginger essential oil is reputed to be an extremely effective digestive tonic.
Slightly laxative, this essential oil helps fight constipation, while stimulating the digestive system. Used alone or in synergy (with tarragon, fennel or Ylang-Ylang essential oils, for example), ginger essential oil can be taken :

    • orally, at a rate of 2 drops, 3 times a day, in a spoon of olive oil or honey, before the meal.
  • by cutaneous way, in massage on the belly and the lower back, in the direction of the clock, morning and evening, diluted in at least 50% of the vegetable oil of your choice.

If the cases of lazy transit are the most common, its acceleration is just as annoying and unpleasant. It then manifests itself as diarrhea, when the colon does not have time to absorb the liquid from the food bowl.

Beware, in this case, of dehydration: it is very important to stay well hydrated, even when one might think that the abundantly evacuated liquid was in excess!

Peppermint essential oil

Peppermint essential oil

Here, the essential oil of peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a powerful and effective ally. It is described, since a long time, as beneficial for the digestive functions and sovereign in the event of gastro-intestinal discomforts.
This essential oil, used alone or in synergy, can prove to be salutary. It can be massaged into the lower back and stomach, just like the ginger essential oil described above.
If you prefer to use it internally, it is best consumed in the form of enteric capsules, so that it works directly in the digestive system.

As the use of essential oils is far from being without danger, do not hesitate to consult a health practitioner to avoid making mistakes. They are, for the most part, contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women, and in young children.
