Treating the gastrointestinal sphere with medicinal plants

Natasha Campbell-Mc Bride, M.D., developed the Gap Diet, which helps repair intestinal permeability.

It is now known that allergy or autoimmune problems are likely to be caused by intestinal hyperpermeability. But that's not all, as this woman doctor has demonstrated the link between intestinal permeability and psychological, neurological or intellectual disorders such as autism, hyperactivity and attention disorders or simply school difficulties. Bone broth seems to be one of the keys to the diet recommended by this doctor. This broth is very popular in the original food and paleolithic diet circles. It is a traditional food and has been prized throughout the ages and across the globe for its richness in nutrients.

Some plants with medicinal virtues

  1. Moringa is the name of a plant native to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. It is known for its long list of medicinal virtues. These leaves, which can be eaten like spinach, raw or cooked, are full of vitamins and minerals. Their high fiber content and antibacterial activity also make them very valuable. Moringa also contains isothiocyanates which have been shown to have a protective effect against infection of the pylorus by Helicobacter Pylori, a bacterium involved in gastric ulcers, acid reflux and stomach cancer.
  2. Perhaps more well-known than the previous plant, aloe vera releases a gel that lines the intestinal wall, making it impermeable and allowing it to repair itself. This results in improved absorption of nutrients and intestinal problems such as Crohn's disease, rectocolitis, irritable bowel syndrome and even gastroesophageal reflux.
  3. Aloe juice is made from the thickest leaves of the plant, which is easily cultivated and grows quite quickly.
  4. Chia seeds are another source of fiber and anti-inflammatory phytochemicals that can help your gastrointestinal system. To benefit from its virtues, taking two tablespoons per day is enough.
  5. Psyllium is another excellent choice for reharmonizing bowel function. It is absolutely necessary to make sure of the quality of the psyllium that we consume because it is a plant that is strongly subjected to pesticides. Add a few spoonfuls of psyllium to your daily diet along with about 20 grams of soluble and insoluble fiber and you will likely get rid of all your digestive problems. Organic psyllium, in addition to supporting digestive function and providing a supply of soluble fiber, is a prebiotic substance that helps boost the proliferation of beneficial bacteria in your intestine.

In short, integrating fermented foods, fibers as well as plants with stomachic, carminative, emollient, laxative, antibacterial, prebiotic and anti-inflammatory virtues into the diet is a guarantee of health for the gastrointestinal system as well as for the pulmonary system (asthma), or even for the neurological, psychological and emotional sphere
