Cystitis is a urinary tract infection that is particularly common in women and girls, for anatomical reasons (shorter urethra and closer to the anal orifice), but can also affect men.
It is, in most cases, due to Escherichia coli, a bacterium naturally present in the intestines. Cystitis can be promoted by intestinal disorders, stress, fatigue, pregnancy, antibiotics, the use of spermicide, wearing tight or synthetic clothes that promote sweating and maceration.
People who have already suffered from it recognize very quickly the symptoms which result from it:
- unpleasant tingling in the crotch followed by burning on urination,
- urgent urination needs,
- pain in the pelvis,
- blood or pus in urine.
A short visit to the doctor, some antibiotics and the disease goes away! But all too often this evil relapses in a big way! But, as we often hear: antibiotics are not automatic!
Effective and natural solutions to get rid of this inconvenience without destroying your intestinal flora
- First of all, it is very important to drink a lot of water! If it is true that in the event of cystitis, one prefers to abstain from urinating because of the pain that it generates, it is essential to hydrate a maximum to allow the body to dilute the germs and to facilitate their evacuation. Diuretic herbal teas, such as cherry stem, or antibacterial teas, such as thyme, will also be of real help to clean and evacuate the bladder.
- Essential oils, never in rest, are excellent to get rid of cystitis. A mixture of linalool thyme, rosewood, tea tree, exotic basil and yellow sandalwood, 10 drops each, diluted in 10 ml of vegetable oil (hazelnut or St. John's wort, for example) and applied to the lower abdomen, at the level of the bladder, 5 times a day, in times of crisis, for one week. The magical effect of essential oils should be felt quickly. If not, don't hesitate for a second to consult, especially if you have a fever. Poorly treated cystitis can turn into pyelonephritis, which requires immediate treatment!
- As a preventive measure, for people prone to cystitis, cranberry juice is an essential ally. According to studies, this fruit juice is very effective because it has compounds, Pro-Anthocyanidins type A, which are able to prevent bacteria from adhering to the urinary walls (just like bilberry) and, therefore, prevent infection.
Simple routines to avoid cystitis
- wipe from front to back, for the ladies,
- urinate after each sexual act,
- avoid staying in your wet bathing suit for a long time,
- change the method of contraception if the cystitis can be directly linked to wearing a diaphragm, for example.
- And most importantly, we can't tell you enough: drink, drink, drink!!!
