Eating the way your hunter-gatherer ancestors did is what the paleo diet, also known as ancestral, offers you. Becoming popular in the early 2000s, this type of diet could prevent some diseases such as obesity and diabetes in addition to making you lose weight. For about 20 years already, the paleo diet has been in the news. To adopt it, nothing could be simpler: consume proteins and vegetables as our ancestors did who respected the real needs of the body. The objective? Improve your state of health, lose weight, but also observe a boost of energy.

It is to know thatthe paleo diet has nothing to do with passing diets that we apply to lose weight or burn fat. It is a whole way of life to be adopted in the long term. The idea is surely to replicatethe caveman's diet, back in the Stone Age, when people lived by hunting and gathering.

The idea of returning everything to the old stone age originated in the United States in 1985. Doctors, sportsmen and scientists have introduced the concept paleo diet. This was introduced in Europe after an inspiration on still existing primitive peoples.

The principle is based on healthy, quality food. We move away from the ideas of transformation whether it be artisanal or industrial. Also excluded are all processes that will resultin pollution.

Paleo diet: what are we supposed to eat?

Everything is inspired by the hunter-gatherer diet. We are therefore supposed to consume natural plant or animal products. Subsequently, sugar and fat levels should be managed. Here are some ideas about your paleo diet.

Eat as much fruit as you can. However, it is advisable to favour low-sugar varieties such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and apples. Some, with a very sweet taste like banana, are to be limited. It is thus possible to prepare recipes such as smoothie, or natural homemade juice.

Vegetables are also part of the paleo diet. It is recommended to eat them raw or steamed. In order to appreciate the good taste, you will not deprive yourself of a good soup or ratatouille recipe. However, when cooking, keep a close eye on the fat intake.

On the meat side,the paleo diet does not restrict any species of edible animals. Zebu meat, pork, poultry, fish, and eggs are all allowed on the this diet. Smoked or rare, these are the recipes to choose. Especially avoid overcooked meat. Thus, it is advisable to choose animals that have had natural diet, that is, without chemical feed.  

Buvez, preferably, natural water ! You can choose between mineral water, table water or spring water. Fruit juices should be consumed in moderation. Sodas and industrial beverages should be totally excluded from yourPaleo eating habit.

This radical change in eating habits will surely have impacts on the metabolism of the human body. How beneficial could paleo eating be? What are the risks of adopting this eating style?

What are the expected results of a paleo diet?

First of all, the paleo diet allows natural weight loss. Thanks to the removal of carbohydrates and fat, the body can get rid of fat stores that accumulate in certain parts of the body. This will promoteweight loss and avoid obesity.

A paleo diet also offers wellness and better physical performance. With a healthy, balanced diet, you will have quality sleep and exact quantity. This well-being feeling will spread to your dentition, hair as well as skin.

Adopting a paleo diet will help you prevent certain diseases. Lowering cholesterol in the blood will decrease cardiovascular risk. With a reduced carbohydrate, the Paleolithic diet will for all that prevent diabetes and blood sugar problems.

The dangers of the paleo diet

Adopting a paleo diet without medical advice or that of a nutrition specialist is like exposing yourself to imminent risk. The diet is recommended under very careful medical supervision.

Thus, with dairy restriction, the paleo dieter risks calcium deficiency. Formodern man, this nutritional deficit severely impacts bone performance.  

Withexcessive, even uncalculated, meat consumption,the paleo diet will inducehigher cholesterol.

Spread over the long term,the paleo diet requires many restrictions. By strictly following the diet, side effects will surely resurface. Steady lowering of carbohydrate levels, for example, would risk a case of hypoglycemia.
