Feng shui : tips for a good bedroom design

Still very much in vogue, feng shui is a fabulous tool for finding harmony and balance in your home. In this article, focus on the bedroom. This room where you spend a large part of your life: from your nights of sleep, to the simple daily relaxation, not to mention the small naps of "whim" ... It is THE room of rest and regeneration.

Before we begin: according to the principles of feng-shui, energy must flow freely and smoothly. Clutter and knick-knacks and anything else you don't use doesn't belong in a home in search of harmony.

Room and feng shui: how to apply it?

To begin with, needless to say, the harmony of your bedroom also involves a more global balance, hence the importance of giving a minimum of importance to all the rooms in the house.

For the bedroom, this is done in two distinct steps: the details on the bed and the arrangement of its environment.

Focus on the bed layout

The bed is the heart of your bedroom. Choosing your mattress and its location is a very important step!

The choice of the bed of the feng shui room

For a regenerative sleep, it is strongly advised to place your bed somewhere other than in front of a door or under a window because the energy flowing there is more vivid and tends to "escape". Notice that many of you instinctively feel disturbed or even uncomfortable with a bed facing the front door of your room.

In addition, as in geobiologyIt is recommended to avoid mirrors in your bedroom, especially in front of your bed (or worse, on the ceiling). If not, put a cloth to hide it in the evening if possible. Indeed, the mirror would keep a memory and would reflect it. Moreover, it would modify the dynamics of the energies of the room making it inharmonious.

The centerpiece of a bedroom is without question the bed. In feng-shui, we are very interested in natural materials. If possible, choose a wooden bed frame and especially a new one.

Your mattress is of the utmost importance. Don't skimp on the choice! Imagine a well-decorated and harmonious room in which you sleep badly because of a poor quality mattress... Another thing: you will have to invest in something new! The principle of reusing an accessory belonging to someone else is contrary to feng shui.

The choice of bedding

As for the sheets and blankets, the choices will always be in priority on natural materials like cotton, linen, bamboo, hemp, etc... Focus on good quality fabrics.

The good news is that you don't have to go overboard. Feng Shui does not like frills!

The location of the bed

The height of the bed will be set according to feeling mainly. Look for the position that would seem reasonable in relation to the ground. If possible, and in order to de-clutter the room, opt for beds with drawers that can be used to store things.

Lastly, your bed will be glued to the wall. This balance at the head will provide stability in position. In relation to this, avoid putting the bed over a window. On both sides, it is obvious to leave a space. A table should be placed on each part.

Creating the feng shui atmosphere in the bedroom

The room is a sanctuary for restand above all intimacy. It needs to dispel the daily work-related stress and usual routines. Think of your room as a refuge, that is, a place to go after the weary. On that note, avoid storing work tools or clothes that you have just worn during the day. But other parameters are essential to setting up a feng shui atmosphere.

A tidy, decluttered room for a soothing atmosphere

In feng-shui, it is essential to keep a tidy space where only common objects and those with positive energy (pleasant memory, inspiring painting etc...) are put forward. Avoid anything that has to do with death, that you don't value, that you never use or that collects dust.

A simple and effective exercise to take stock is to close your eyes and then visualize your room and list, from memory, everything you have on your walls, bedside tables, dresser etc. ... Finally, compare. You will notice that some objects no longer exist in your eyes because they are either drowned in the mass, or they have been exposed for too long, or your interest in them has diminished. It is then time to sort, tidy and de-clutter.

The choice and arrangement of furniture

It is possible to place a desk, TV, computer in the room or other distracting equipment in your room. However, keep them away from your bed.

It's not out of the question to adorn your room with decorative items. However, be careful what you place on the wall or table. Avoid paintings or figurines with macabre, warlike or witchy subjects. Also remove objects that affect you with bad memories.

Plants will also be best kept outside your bedroom. The same goes for pets while you sleep. These are charged with yang energy that would not allow to keep the balance.

Preferably, choose the naturalfurniture and accessoriesin your room. For example, wooden tables and chairs, a mohair rug and natural fabrics.

Circulate the energy in the room

The lighting and color of your room

Create your color balance from accessories and the shade of your wall. Several colors are recommended to give a feng shui harmony to the room. The color of fire will represent strength, effort and career. You can also include the color of the earth and metal. On this, some colors symbolize these elements.

Also give a feng shui vibe to your room with lighting. It would be better not to place the lamp hanging over the bed. In the bedroom, opt for bedside lamps or lampshades on the table.

Finally, scent your room withnatural aroma.

The bed of the feng shui room

Feng-shui and housekeeping

It's a good idea to aerate your room every morning to not only renew and clean the air but also to recirculate "chi".

The "dust bunnies" that accumulate under the bed and in the nooks and crannies of your bedroom (as in every other room in your house) can be likened to worn energy, clumped and trapped. They tend to weigh down and short-circuit the proper flow of energy.

From time to time, push the furniture around, vacuum under the cupboard and in every nook and cranny. The most sensitive among you will feel the difference, I'm sure!

Airborne dust is normal. We don't live in a sanitized place... Having it on furniture and objects, too. However, when it accumulates on them, it has the same effect as the previously mentioned "sheep": it is a sign of stagnation. So it's time to wipe down or simply put away what's no longer needed!

Objects have a history in feng-shui.

In feng-Shui, it is considered that objects carry a story within them and this is true from the moment they are made. Second hand objects are therefore to be avoided or at least limited because the different owners have left their mark on them. However, it is not recommended to buy new at any cost. Overuse of objects is not recommended in feng shui. Furthermore, it is necessary to keep in mind the philosophy of "less is more."

To summarize, an ordered room, a purified decoration, a made bed, tidy clothes, an organized office, natural materials it is the insurance of a harmonious environment where energies circulate with fluidity.
