What more could you ask for than a moment of relaxation with a little scrub in a nice hot bath? To replace exfoliating products with chemical ingredients, we suggest you make your own homemade scrub. An easy and economical recipe with natural ingredients and easy to obtain. All of this is respectful of your skin and the environment.
The benefits of a scrub
Scrubbing is an ancestral treatment practiced everywhere and at any time, aiming to eliminate dead skin and impurities. But this is not its only asset. Exfoliation is a mechanical action that cleanses the skin in depth by opening the pores, which prepares the skin before moisturizing.
In addition, exfoliating the skin stimulates the manufacture of new cells, boosts radiance, makes the skin more supple and smooth, and stimulates blood circulation. This treatment should be part of your weekly routine to "take care of yourself".
This deep cleansing removes impurities, traces of pollution as well as the visible repercussions that your lifestyle leaves on your skin (smoking, food hygiene, etc.).
DIY scrub: natural and non-allergenic ingredients
The ingredients of the homemade scrub can be tailored to your desires or needs. However, we are going to suggest and detail some that we have deemed ideal for a scrub suitable for all skin types.
Cane sugar is, thanks to its thick grain, a good exfoliator. This allows the scrub to exfoliate your skin mechanically, activating microcirculation and cell renewal. Cane sugar makes the skin beautiful, soft and smooth. However, beware of fragile skin because its grain is quite thick and can be irritating on very thin or irritated skin.
White sugar, on the other hand, has a finer grain. This allows you to play with different textures, making the scrub ideal for all skin types.
L’coconut oil nourishes and moisturizes the skin, leaving a protective film on it. This gives the skin an oily look, but it doesn't last and brings a soft and satiny look to your skin. This vegetable oil also has repairing and anti-aging properties.
Vanilla sugar, like powdered coconut, is used for its smell more than its virtues. Coconut also adds texture to your homemade scrub.
Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, is added to the recipe to extend shelf life. It preserves vegetable oils from going rancid and its antioxidant action makes it an excellent ally for dry and damaged skin.

This scrub does not contain any essential oil, so it is suitable for everyone, even pregnant or nursing women. There are, however, some restrictions on use. It is not recommended to use the scrub on young children or on fragile or damaged skin. Also, avoid exfoliating your skin every day.
Use and conservation of the homemade scrub
The scrub is applied by hand or glove in small circular motions on wet skin in the bath or shower. Leave on for a few minutes then rinse with warm water.
You can use this scrub once a week or before waxing, before and after sun exposure and when you have dry skin.
Store your sugar-coconut scrub in a glass jar in your bathroom. In winter, the scrub may have a very solid texture. To make it easier to use, melt it on a radiator or in the hot water of your bath.
Warning, this is a body scrub. Avoid exfoliating the face as the grain is too abrasive. Also avoid using scrubs on young children or people with fragile skin. Don't exfoliate your skin every day either, as this can weaken it.
You are now ready to make your own homemade scrub! We wish you a good moment of relaxation.
