A healthy mind is a terrible thing to lose, but the threat of destruction of brain function has really become a serious health issue related to man-made chemicals. These are potentially the biggest culprits destroying our brains, but there is good news: easy ways exist to avoid them.
Fluorides
The decision to add fluoride to most public drinking water systems as a means of fighting tooth decay has had perhaps the most insidious and widespread effect on the brain.
The Fluorine Action Network (FAN) presented a study that found fluoride is linked to lower IQ, even in proportions added to the U.S. water supply. In all, FAN reported that 34 studies now link fluorides to a significant decrease in IQ levels in humans, while numerous other studies link fluoride to learning and memory impairments, fetal brain damage, and impaired neurobehavioral function.
A UNICEF-sponsored study found that IQ is greatly diminished even with doses of only 0.88 mg/l of fluoride, a level that is considered the optimal range and is routinely added to U.S. drinking water systems that serve more than 200 million Americans each day.
Removing fluorides from your water supply is often as simple as installing a high-quality water filter.
Heavy metals
Heavy metals are toxins that are not easily eliminated but are commonplace in the bodies and brains of millions of people due to vaccines, dental amalgams, agricultural chemicals like pesticides, industrial pollution, fish, chicken etc....
Those most susceptible to traumatic brain injury from mercury are newborns who have not yet had time to properly develop their blood-brain barrier and are typically subjected to an intense vaccination schedule that injects mercury directly into their bodies. In babies with genetic susceptibility, such as a defect in enzymes responsible for detoxification of heavy metals, prenatal and early postnatal exposure to mercury leads to neurological damage resulting in autistic symptoms.
Dr. Robert Nash, also suggests that the toxic effects of mercury can cause a wide range of brain diseases including autism, Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and neurodevelopmental diseases.

Artificial sweeteners
The relationship between artificial sweeteners without calories and negative effects on the brain has been well documented. They are found in sodas, yogurts, chewing gum, cooking sauces, sweeteners, flavored water, cereals and sugar-free products.
The aspartame is a combination of chemicals, from aspartic acid to namely (an amino acid with excitatory effects on brain cells), methanol and phenylalanine, and scientists place it at the high end of the range of what is considered toxic. When aspartame breaks down, it produces a chemical compound that can cause a brain tumor.
Ninety different symptoms have been documented following aspartame consumption, including anxiety attacks, slurred speech, depression and migraine.
Avoid artificial sweeteners by reading the ingredients and avoiding the products above. The FDA also recently approved another name for aspartame: AminoSweet, so beware of this ingredient too.
Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
MSG is a form of concentrated salt added to foods to enhance their flavor. It was first used in military rations to give them a better taste, but was quickly adopted by the food industry.
Dr. Blayloc, a neurosurgeon who is an authority on excitotoxins such as MSG, discovered that there was silent damage to the brain, and over time he saw the destruction of large parts of the brain that could cause Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other brain diseases.
The best way to avoid it is to stop eating processed foods, or look for it in the ingredients, mainly monosodium glutamate also called Monosodium glutamate or yeast extract.
