In simple terms, chemical hair coloring removes the hair's natural pigments from within the hair fiber and replaces them with chemical dyes. The original color can therefore be completely altered. But since natural pigments influence hair structure, repeated chemical coloring can make hair brittle and dull.

In contrast, 100% plant-based colorants bind only to the outer layers of the hair fiber, forming a protective sheath around the hair. Depending on how the color is applied, this sheath can provide more or less coverage, thus influencing the final color.

Safety precautions for organic ash brown hair coloring

• Be careful not to inhale the fine powder.
• Read instructions carefully for best results.
• Bear in mind that Khadi vegetable colorants color hair permanently (with the exception of Khadi Senna/Cassia), so it's best to test a strand before using for the first time to avoid an unsuitable result.
• In the case of light or grey hair (or regrowth), natural dyes containing high levels of indigo pigments(in dark brown, black or pure indigo shades) can cause undesirable greenish coloration during coloring. To avoid such results, we advise you not to use these colors directly on light or gray hair, but to pre-pigment with Khadi Henna (Henna Pur or Henna Amla Jatropha). So proceed with a 2-step coloring process:
  1. Color the hair (or only the roots if treating regrowth) with a Khadi Henna shade, finishing with a rinse before moving directly on to point 2.
  2. Color the hair (or only the roots in the case of regrowth treatment) with the chosen dark color, giving an even color without a greenish tint.
• To reduce red highlights for Khadi Châtain Clair or Brun Noisette Naturel Khadi Indigo can be used as a pre-pigmentation (similar to the previous point).
• It is advisable not to mix oils or oily products with Khadi coloring powders, but Khadi hair oils can be used 24 hours after coloring to improve hold: apply oil 24 hours after coloring, leave on for an hour and then wash hair with shampoo.
