Quercetin, a powerful natural antioxidant

Quercetin is essential to your health. Although it is little known by the general public, it is nevertheless consumed regularly because it is found in the composition of many foods.

Quercetin is important because it is involved in metabolic processes and protects against various conditions such as asthma, allergic reactions, obesity, cardiovascular disease, cataracts, hypertension, chronic inflammation.... Learn more about the benefits of quercetin.

La quercétine, un antioxydant naturel

The quercetin is a flavonoid i.e. a natural antioxidant. It thus protects against free radicals that oxidize cells. The free radicals come from metabolic waste, stress, pollution, a processed diet, poor oxygenation, sedentary lifestyle, excessive sports, sun exposure... Quercetin slows down the effects of aging and fights against premature aging of cells.

La quercétine pour un cerveau en bonne santé

The harmful effects of free radicals are not only found in the skin or eyes but also in the brain. The quercetin protects your brain and therefore, your cognitive functions which naturally tend to decrease as you age. By the way, this molecule is of interest to researchers because it has shown some promise as a supplement to Alzheimer's treatments.

La quercétine contre le mauvais cholestérol

The quercetin helps restore the LDL/HDL balance and reduce cholesterol plaques in the arteries. This natural molecule protects against strokes and heart disease, especially coronary heart disease. It is therefore a must for cardiovascular health, provided, of course, that you adopt an appropriate lifestyle accordingly.

La quercétine et ses effets sur le système immunitaire

Quercetin acts to modulate the immune response. It prevents the immune system from overreacting thus reducing the risks of developing allergic reactions especially since it also acts as a powerful antihistamine. It reduces the severity of asthma attacks, calms eczema as well as allergic rhinitis (hay fever)

A 2013 scientific study conducted by Japanese researchers on rats highlighted the antihistamine effects of quercetin: "pretreatment with quercetin for 3 weeks suppressed TDI-induced nasal allergy symptoms and H1R mRNA elevation in the nasal mucosa of TDI-sensitized rats." (1)

Furthermore, in autoimmune diseases that are the result of an immune system attack on organs, quercetin acts as a modulatory buffer to decrease attacks in addition to itsanti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the action of molecules involved in the inflammatory response: cytokines and prostaglandins.

La quercétine, une molécule anti-cancer

The quercetin has a non-negligible role in the immune system and its anti-inflammatory properties combined with its antioxidant properties make this molecule a powerful ally against cancer.

Où trouver la quercétine naturellement

The quercetin is a polyphenol that belongs to the large family of flavonoids. It is found naturally in food and in particular in red onions, blueberries, dark chocolate, black elderberry, hot pepper, cherry, black currant, raw broccoli, green tea and especially capers, which contain 2 to 10 times more quercetin than anything else.

The quercetin is also that natural pigment that colors plants.

Comment prendre la quercétine

The quercetin is found naturally in the diet. This is the basis in a preventive health diet.

If you already have an oxidized ground, you can turn to the food complements in addition to a complete revision of your hygiene of life.

It is advisable to take 500 mg of quercetin 2 times a day without ever exceeding 1200 mg/d.

  • In case of an allergic attack, the dose is 100 mg to 200 mg, 3 times a day away from meals.

  • To relieve inflammation: 200 mg to 400 mg , 3 times a day away from meals.

Beware!

The quercetin is not recommended for people with thyroid and/or kidney disorders.

Before any supplementation, please ask your doctor, pharmacist and naturopath for advice especially if you have a current or future drug treatment.
