When you buy your salmon...

When you buy your salmon, do you know the word that will make the difference between one that will bring you good omega3 and another that will bring you toxins?

I'll confess that I'm a fan of smoked salmon; when I was young, we didn't think about what kind of fish to buy or where to buy it; we had the choice of Scottish, Norwegian or Pacific provenance.

The world of salmon has changed a lot in recent years, and maybe you're still buying it with your eyes closed... what a mistake!

You've been told that salmon is full of omega-3s, good for your system cardiovascular and so you think you're doing the right thing by eating it. In fact, it's quite possible that the one you're buying contains not only very little omega3, but also other completely undesirable products such as drug residues and other foods that farmed salmon have eaten. So it may not be what it once was.

To avoid potential problems, I always choose WILD fish and it is compulsory to label the source as "farmed" or "wild".

Wild salmon has the great advantage of not having been forced to eat "specially prepared" food or perhaps treated with drugs; that's why I always eat "wild" smoked salmon, which is also, for my money, much better (but admittedly also a little more expensive).

Enjoy your meal!
