Discover natural cosmetics with Corinne De Leenheer - Part 2

Here is the second part of our interview. Corinne makes us travel through her journey in the magic of natural cosmetics.

If you were to advise only 3 "gestures" in natural cosmetics, what would they be?

If I could recommend 3 gestures, they would be the following:

From the sun your skin will protect: the sun wreaks havoc and accelerates the skin's aging process. For me, protecting oneself from it remains the natural gesture par excellence.

Your skin too thou shalt not erase: the skin has a lipid film, a beautiful natural barrier that prevents nasty things from reaching us. Exfoliating the skin often damages this film, making the skin fragile and vulnerable.

Your body with oil in the evening you will massage: a vegetable oil chosen to perfectly match the need of the skin, applied and massaged on a wet skin works wonders. It intensely nourishes, provides a feeling of well-being and leaves it satin-like.

The skin is the largest organ in our body. It is our bulwark against a life where pollution, sun and cold are present. It seems to me essential to preserve it and to take the time to protect it. Without negatively impacting our environment and while remaining on a certain sensory pleasure and performance.

What is the difference between a natural product, a vegan product, an organic product, a product from slow cosmetics?

A natural product is a product that comes from nature and does not necessarily carry a label,

A vegan product is one that does not contain any ingredients of animal origin and has not been tested on animals,

An organic product is a product whose ingredients are derived from organic agriculture and which often bears a label

Slow is a product that is very simple and complete.

Corinne, tell us about your background in natural cosmetics.

I experienced my awakening to cosmetics as a teenager in Portugal. At that time beauty was natural and in consciousness. Women respected nature and their health. They prepared oil chews with rosebuds, scrubs with the shells of almonds that they crushed, and hydrolats with orange blossoms. Masks with red clay. They moisturized with aloe vera.

I thought it was all beautiful and had a certain "magic" to it.

I learned to know the plants and their properties, to dry them and to use them

When I returned to Belgium, I was struck by modern, technological cosmetics. Which I used but quickly returned to a consumption that was more in line with my value system.

That's when I decided to open a blog because of the number of times I was asked for my recipes and advice. I then took advantage of the web to try to raise awareness and make people love natural products. I realized that I had a real life mission in my guts.

I shared pretty little brands I had discovered, in-depth articles, recipes, advice.
I created thematic workshops that I led for 6 years and then launched into the great adventure of creating my own natural cosmetic brand.

A brand that combines everything that is essential to me: beautiful plants, efficient formulations, sensory textures, a true ritual that combines the power of nature with a spiritual sphere. To take care of your body and mind. A holistic, caring brand. A brand with a social component, that seemed essential to me.

I continue to write on my blog, give mini conferences and workshops to continue to raise awareness. It's exciting, magical. Each person who is awakened, counseled and learns to go back to the basics and take the time to take care of themselves and love themselves is the greatest gift of all. That she can do herself, do to nature and do it.
