Hello Corinne,
Thank you for responding to our call for this interview. As the months go by, our team is interested in natural cosmetics but, to this day, we have preferred to call upon a specialist in the field to bring us all the keys that were missing from our know-how in this vast and complex but exciting field.
In recent years, the world has been moving toward wellness and natural cosmetics has taken off.
What do you think of this development?
The world has entered a period of positive change. In a hyper-connected and hyper-industrialized world, a world where life is moving faster and faster, positive movements are emerging, in all fields.
The human being wakes up, wakes up. He realizes that he has destroyed our habitat and is trying to slow the process down. He tries to consume better, he positions himself as an actor and he tries to change the trends. Towards something healthier, simpler, by returning little by little to the essential. I am thrilled to see these people awaken, others become aware of their power to make a difference.
You have specialized in natural cosmetics for many years. Your advice is welcome for those who are just starting out. Therefore, which product to start with?
When starting out in natural cosmetics, there are several possible solutions. Start with small, simple but effective things, i.e. form and attack with emulsion type products. Personally, I belong to the school that advises to try mixtures of powders and simple ingredients such as vegetable oils to create a body scrub, a face serum and a mask.
I personally started with an oily face serum, which 15 years later is still my evening serum! I also advise to be careful not to fall into the trap of overconsumption linked to the 1,001 great ingredients available on the market.
Do we really need to throw out everything in our bathroom or can we hope for a smooth transition? What are your tips?
When the desire to change one's consumer behavior is present, I advise not to throw away but to give the remaining products to associations that help precarious families, if not open. Their negative impact is already present, and helping people who do not have the possibility to have access to cosmetics can soften the gesture which remains strong. Not using them is still a healthy attitude.
Other people throw away. I think it's up to the person to decide, depending on how they see life. And what feels right.
What do you think are your top products in natural cosmetics and for what uses?
My main products in natural cosmetics are the following:
Oily serum that can be used on the face, body and hair. Composed of vegetable oils of first cold pressure. This product helps to nourish and protect the skin.An enzymatic facial scrub that is more intense but gentler on the skin, compared to a grainy scrub. A body scrub to be used once a month, not more.A body, face and hair wash. For me the must is rhassoul.Otherwise I also like to use cold saponified soap over greased from time to time.
And aloe vera gel.
