Sleep well to boost your immune system

Immune system at half-mast? Are you already tired from the cold winds and autumn rains even though fall has just arrived? Are you starting to get a runny nose or itchy throat? Then it's time for a seasonal change. Indeed, very often we are not listening to nature which takes us with it from one season to another. We remain confined in our summer habits, whether they are food or lifestyle.
Attention, do not run too quickly to the nearest pharmacy to raid the nose sprays or throat syrups because the solution is not there...The solution is in you!

Fall is a cocooning retreat

Absolutely, fall is a time of retreat when taking care of your body should be a given. The days are shorter and they signal us to shorten our time of life as well. When the sun sets and night appears, we should adopt the same attitude and slowly return home to the magic of rest.
To go from a season like summer which is jovial, festive and rich in activities to autumn where we have to slow down our life train is not obvious. However, it is really necessary for the good functioning of our body.

Sleep

Sleep is essential, regardless of the season. However, in the fall, the body needs more rest. It's organic!
It is important to understand that a lack of sleep can have a significant impact on the regulation of our hormones and therefore on the different spheres of our lives such as weight gain, the female cycle or even stress. And so many other elements.
According to Inserm, rest allows the body to ensure the functions necessary for development and health. And yes! Without a good quality sleep, our organism can in no way regenerate properly and the immune system is therefore damaged.

Improve your sleep quality

It's very simple! Just set up a sleep routine:

  • No screens (television, smartphone, tablet) in the thirty minutes before going to bed. Prefer a night of reading to a night of TV which will have a much more positive impact on your rest.
  • Diffuse a soothing essential oil such as lavender or a citrus essence which have calming properties to spend an evening under the sign of cocooning.
  • A short relaxation session (or yoga) will be welcome to calm your mind and to release the tensions of your body.
  • A relaxing hot bath will also be appreciated.

Avoid eating in the two hours before bedtime. Indeed, digestion requires an effort of the body and that will prevent you from falling asleep of good quality. Do not eat your evening meals too late to give your body time to digest properly.
Also, don't let yourself be tempted by evening snacks which are often very emotionally comforting. Don't let yourself be tricked because they will undoubtedly disrupt your sleep.

No exciting drinks at night: Avoid coffee, black tea and sodas

If falling asleep is really difficult, if you are tossing and turning under your sheets, we advise you to avoid sleeping pills as much as possible. Indeed, they have important consequences of iatrogenic disorders. With the agreement of your natural health practitioner and your general practitioner, you can try to set up a treatment more adapted to your needs. Many herbal food supplements are of great help for sleep disorders and the side effects on these products are much less and sometimes even non-existent.

To boost your immune system this winter, there is nothing better than taking care of yourself in autumn, this period of rest and inner retreat. Don't forget that nature knows what is good for us, so let's listen to her and let ourselves be carried away by the magic of this cocooning period.
